ABOUT
I could tell you where I live (bland) or I could tell you that New York is my favorite city in the world and every time I look at the Chrysler building, I want to kiss somebody. I moved here in June of 2016 and everyone's trying to scare me with all their jaded New Yorkishness and I even love that because ooh they're so New York. The only downside is that the barefoot thing doesn't go so well for me here. Cue scene of my wide-eyed face suddenly crumpling as the camera pans to my naked toes in a trail of urine. *sigh*
I recently Googled if there was such a thing as too much fruit and I find squirrels and rats equally terrifying. I literally bounced off the walls as a child, in a rolly chair, for hours. I co-founded a theater company in Los Angeles based on Viewpoints and classical text but after a certain point, we were just trying to leverage our friendship with Andy Dick to garner attention. I believe intersectional feminism should be considered in any relevant work made in this era and I am writing my own series through this lens. And lastly, I have a stuffed animal unicorn which I was gifted on my twentieth birthday which was kind of like a “huh?” gift but now, as a grown adult, I hold him at night when I can’t sleep and bring him on trips. His name is Fredrick.
Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I'm Julia Saunders and I'm an actor, writer, director, and human being living in New York City. But, for both of our sakes, I'm going to try to spice up the standard bio. For example, where I'm from is whatever, although I will say Fairfax, California, with all its elitist hippie secrets and stoner dads, deserves at least a thirty minute NBC comedy series. But what does that really say about me, where I'm from? Except in this case, that I obviously do yoga in candlelight, like barefoot hiking and am a burrito snob.
I personally think it's more fun to point out that I get really meta about writing bios than to list off my interests. Or that I have to really restrain myself from cooking a meal that takes less than thirty minutes. Or that I literally run, as in from store to store, to do my errands to maximize efficiency.
I don't know, do you really care where I went to school? Or would you rather know that in college I wore a hybrid of a dragon costume and a sleeping bag as pjs most nights? I actually flew to New York in the get up and flip flops, which happened to be the only outfit I had on my trip when the airline lost my bag. I got approached in Macaron Parlor by a Buzzfeed writer to become a central character in his writing. It was all very exciting.
